The #Benue #State Zone C Chapter of the All Progressives Congress, #APC, has cautioned her senatorial candidate, Daniel Onjeh, to desist from his constant verbal harassment of Senator David Mark, the Senate #President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
Seriously concerned about the negative impacts which the constant verbal onslaught of #Senator Mark posed for the APC in the senatorial zone, the APC Renewal Group in Benue Zone C noted that there was a big difference between active politics and student activism.
“As a party embarking on mass appeal for greater membership even after elections at all levels, this is not the time to embark on unnecessary exchanges with statesmen like Sen. Mark. The APC needs people in zone c of Benue state. We are yet to make valuable in-roads to that enclave,” the group said.
In a press release signed by Chief Ogah. A. Ogah, president of the group, and its Sec/Legal, Chief Otse Ochoga, the group maintained that the Peoples Democratic Party legitimately and credibly won the elections in the zone during the Senatorial and House of Representatives polls.
“We reiterate here that the elections in zone C was won ninety percent by the #PDP. The senator of zone c is PDP. All the House of Representative positions was claimed by the same party.
“The PDP won 9 out of 10 State Houses of Assembly positions in zone c. This feat was made wholesomely possible given Senator Mark’s leadership.
They, therefore, urged him to file his grievances and channel them to the appropriate quarters instead of his constant media war and challenge on the person of the senate president.
Read the rest excerpt of the group’s press release:
“Our attention has been drawn to the agitative statements and unwarranted verbal harassment of the person of Senator David Mark by Mr Daniel Onjeh, the senatorial candidate of our great party, the APC in Benue south senatorial district.
“If we feel aggrieved about election outcomes, the best place to ventilate such grievances are the tribunals. We cannot understand why Mr Daniel Onjeh must level up with Senator Mark in social media platforms and the traditional media.
“If not for anything, Senator Mark is still our senator, the Senate President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and a highly regarded Nigerian statesman.
“We honestly implore Mr Daniel Onjeh to understand that there is a limit to partisan allowances in our dealings with regarded nationalists like Senator Mark since our brand of actual politics is different from student activism.
“We in the APC in Benue State have tremendous respect for Senator Mark and equally need to approach matters from a stand point of utmost decorum in other to attract the great membership that our party now deserves.
“Therefore, we take total exception to the needless outpourings of Mr. Onjeh against Senator Mark.
“He should take a queue from the statements credited to both Samuel Ortom and Engr. Benson Abounu separately and respectively where-in they harped on the sterling leadership qualities of the Senate President and the need to collaborate with him and Abounu’s ascension to this present position as having been truly predicted by distinguished Senator Mark in the past.
“We advice Mr Onjeh to pursue more, the legal aspects of his disputations as uncontrolled tantrums in media circles against the Senate President will not add up to any notable advantages for him, if they still exist.
“A media coordinated attack against Senator Mark by Mr. Onjeh shall never create a basis for competition with Senator Mark whose national inclusiveness-duration and unblemished service and relevance surpasses Mr. Onjeh’s total years on earth.
