As the royal family in England, #Prince William and wife #Kate, welcome their second child in two years, analysts have predicted an #economic boom amounting to the tune of £80 million being injected into the #British economy.
#Joshua Bamfield, director of the Centre for Retail Research, after conducting a survey of retailers, said he expected a boost of around £80 million (111 million euros, $119 million) — two-thirds coming from food and drink sales to celebrate the #royal birth and a third from souvenirs.
“If it’s a girl, it’s like an investment that is going to pay off for the media and designers,” Bamfield added.
As it turned out, the British economy will be in for all the right reasons this period following the announcement by #Kensington Palace that the wife of Prince William, Duchess Of Cambridge, gave birth to a baby girl on Saturday May 2, 2015.
Bamfield’s centre has conducted similar studies in the past on major events in British life like Queen Elizabeth II’s Diamond Jubilee and the 2012 Olympics.
