The gubernatorial election that held on April 11, 2015 in #Delta #State was massively rigged by the current governor of the state under the Peoples Democratic Party, this is the summation of the opposition parties in the state.
The political parties want governor #Okowa to be ejected from office by the Delta state election #tribunal sitting in Abuja; majority of the citizens of the state are in support of this motion, and has been rumoured, the ruling All Progressives Congress is skimming to cease control of the state as well. So, are these united forces on their way to be granted their desires?
The opposition forces behind the fight to unseat the incumbent governor of the state appears to be winning their battle following the latest defeat suffered by Okowa at the tribunal on Tuesday 30th of June, 2015.
According to SaharaReporters, Delta State Peoples Democratic Party (#PDP) and #Governor Ifeanyi Okowa, also from the PDP, failed in their attempt to stop a petition filed against them by opposition Parties in Delta State, including the Labour Party (LP) and the All Progressives Congress (#APC).
Governor Okowa, in his preliminary objection through his lead counsel last week, told the three man tribunal sitting in Asaba, the Delta State capital, to strike down the APC and LP petitions for failing to apply for a pre-hearing notice as provided in under paragraph 18 (1) of the Electoral Act 2014 as amended.
The tribunal, led by Justice Nasir Gunmi, held that all applications would be entertained along with the substantive petitions. Justice Gunmi also said that “motions will be heard alongside the substantive petitions.”
